Compress a video for email

Gmail takes attachments up to 25 MB, Outlook 20 MB, and many work servers only 10 MB. Pick where you’re sending it and get an MP4 that fits, at the best picture the size allows.

Why 18 MB for a 25 MB limit

An email carries an attachment as text (base64), which makes it about a third bigger. So the file is aimed at 72% of the limit: 18 MB for Gmail, 14 MB for Outlook, 7 MB for a 10 MB work server.

The size the bitrate can carry

The bitrate comes from the target and the video’s length. On Auto, the picture is scaled to the largest size that bitrate keeps sharp: 1080p for a short clip, 720p or 540p for a longer one.

Your video stays with you

It’s re-encoded in your browser as an H.264 MP4 that plays everywhere, with the index at the front so it starts playing before it has fully downloaded. Nothing is uploaded.
