Video to GIF

A video doesn’t play inside an email, but a GIF does. Drop in a video, pick a few seconds, and get a looping GIF that stays under the size you choose: 2 MB loads fast in Gmail and Outlook, and works in a README or a chat too.

Drop a video here, or click to pick oneAny part up to 15 seconds long. It stays on your computer: the GIF is made in your browser.

Under the size you pick

If the GIF comes out over the limit, it’s made again: the frame rate down to 10 fps first, which you barely see, then a smaller width, until it fits.

Colours that hold up

A GIF has 256 colours at most. Each frame gets its own palette, so gradients and screenshots keep their look instead of sharing one set of colours for the whole clip.

Your video stays with you

The video is decoded and the GIF encoded in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so there’s no queue and no file size limit on the video you start from.
